King Erik XIV's Orb

All orbs can be traced back to the globes used by the Roman emperors to demonstrate their global dominance.

When King Erik XIV was to marry Karin Måndotter in 1568, he chose to decorate his orb with an engraved map of the world. The map shows oceans, ships and sea monsters.

The regalia, the baptismal font and the coronation cloak can be seen in the Treasury at the Royal Palace of Stockholm.
