LINN KARLSSON
Born 1990
"I experience drawing as a creation of traces, an almost reversed archaeological practice, where the movements of the body carve a direct and unique impression of presence. I often draw on lithographic stones and wooden boards, from which I create graphic prints that I then draw on top of. The knife is a particularly important drawing tool for me, which I use to carve out tactile formations in paper that open up new parallel image spaces. Here, I work in a collage-like way with transparency, cutting through and layering upon layer.
In my drawing project ‘‘The long time’, I explore the traces of the old farming community I have found in the forests of Västergötland. In relation to nature’s gradual chains of events, sometimes with sudden human effect, I interpret these traces through the slow process of drawing and cutting out. I feel my way through an unobtrusive resistance to the speed of the present moment, searching my way further into spaces of time that I have never been in."
